Frequently asked questions
  • Do I need experience to join the Club?   No experience is required we offer coaching to anyone wishing to learn the game from scratch - see below.

  • How much does membership cost?  Trial Membership may be offered to new bowlers and prospective members of the Club as a means of gathering basic knowledge of the sport and of the Club. Trial Membership has a fixed duration of 4 weeks (28 days) from the date of application. New or inexperienced Trial Members will be offered a minimum of 4 basic coaching sessions (including the open day if applicable) by Club Coaches to provide the necessary introduction to the sport. Further sessions can be mutually arranged with the Coaches. Trial Members may participate in weekly Club Nights on Monday of each week at 5pm. These evening sessions provide a less formal means of structured play and provide valuable additional experience to new bowlers. You may also use the green for roll-ups with a Club Member when (ideally) a Club Coach is also present. All Members will be required to wear flat-soled, heelless shoes on the green, but all other equipment (e.g. bowls) is available at the Club. There are no rules as to dress on the green when practising. You will need the correct bowls shoes when picked to play club games. The current fee for Trial Membership is £30, but this may be rebated against the 1st year Membership of £90 if the Trial Member applies for Full Membership within the currency of the trial period. On acceptance, trial members will be put in touch with the club coaches to arrange coaching sessions.
