Dear Member
You may remember that you were sent an email on 18 July which referred
to "guidance from Bowls England that, as in many other sports, white
clothes below the waist will be phased out ". This is a reference to
Bowls England's Club and County Clothing Guidance
issued in June 2023 (a copy of which is available on the Club's website
- Useful Information) which actually states:
"Many other sports are moving away from the use of white below the waist so that
women are more at ease when playing during their period". That document lists eight
permitted colours below the waist: White, Grey, Black, Blue, Navy, Red,
Maroon, Green.
After discussion, your Committee decided to recommend a move away from
whites below the waist, which is part of the vote being held at the
General Meeting on Sunday 8 September. However, there may be occasions
where whites are stipulated by the organiser of a match in which you are
playing, but this would no longer be our Club's policy should the
resolution be passed.
There has been some confusion over the Proxy Form. There is no need for
you to complete a Proxy Form if you are attending the Meeting on Sunday.
A voting slip will be handed to you and you will be able to vote
anonymously by depositing your slip safely. The votes will be counted
and the result will be announced that day.
If in the light of the above you wish to change a previously submitted
Proxy Form please let me know no later than 5:00pm on Saturday 7 September.
Please contact me if you require further clarification.
Regards
Wendy
